Remembrance - 'For King and Country' Portrait Exhibition: 4th to 15th November 2020

Remembrance - 'For King and Country' Portrait Exhibition

For King and Country - World War Two Veterans Portraits

This exhibition of over thirty portraits is the culmination of three years work by artist Nel Brooks.  Since December 2017, she and her husband (and two cats) have travelled the country in their red bus, meeting surviving veterans and detailing each of their stories in these portraits.

For decades these humble men and women have quietly worn uniforms, displayed medals, laid poppy wreaths and clutched wooden crosses in memory of their fallen comrades.  Soon we won't be able to turn to them to answer our questions or to remind us of their sacrifices. This exhibition by Nel is a tribute to a generation of ordinary men and women who experienced and overcame extraordinary things.  We will remember them.

As part of the Fleet Air Arm’s contribution to Remembrance this November, the ‘For King and Country’ exhibition will run from 4th of November to the 15th of November in the Museum Auditorium (annexed to Hall One).

Access to the exhibition is FREE with a valid Museum ticket.
