Celebrating 100 years of Wow!
The new Fly Navy 100 exhibition dramatically presents the development of naval aviation from the first Royal Naval airship in 1909 and early bi-planes, to today's formidable air power from the sea.
The earliest complete aircraft on display is a replica of a 1912 Short S27 together with the un-restored remains of the first aircraft to have taken part in a naval battle in 1916, the Short 184.
Other aircraft on display within the FN100 exhibition include the first Westland Dragonfly helicopter to be assigned to the Royal Navy in 1949, The Sea King flown by HRH The Duke of York during the Falklands War, a Westland Lynx helicopter, a Supermarine Walrus sea-plane, Fairey Firefly, Sopwith Pup and a BAe Sea Harrier.
