The Fleet Air Arm Museum has announced that as part of a national initiative, it will hold a 'Night at the Museum' event on Friday 14th May. It will take place at the Museum's Reserve Collection Store, called Cobham Hall, between the hours of 7pm and 10pm.
Night at the Museum promises to be an occasion to remember as there will be an opportunity to meet the curators, find out about how the Museum looks after its collection and learn more about the preservation of their own records and artefacts. Visitors will also have the chance to go on specialised tours of stores rarely open to the general public to see how the Museum cares for its documents, small objects and aviation collections.
The Document Store contains records relating to members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines during World War 1, together with technical manuals and drawings relating to a wide range of aircraft. The Small Objects Store houses a wide range of interesting and unusual artefacts ranging across the entire history of naval aviation.
The event is open to all and tickets will be available at the door at £5.00 each.
Places on the tours will be limited and allocated on a first come first served basis.
